ABOUT THIS AIRCRAFT
The De Havilland Canada Dash 7 was a four-engine STOL turboprop built to master short and rugged runways. Introduced in the late 1970s, its quiet approach, heavy-lift ability, and unmatched performance made it indispensable for both commuter airlines and special missions. C-GVPP embodied this versatility—serving not only regional carriers, but also humanitarian efforts across the globe. More than just an airliner, she became a beacon of humanity, proving that compassion can reach even the most distant corners of the world.
Our Aircraft’s Story
C-GVPP was built in 1982 and began service with Air Niugini before returning to Canada in 1987 to fly for City Express. By the 1990s, she joined Trans Capital Air, where her most meaningful work came under lease to the United Nations. From Ghana to Haiti, C-GVPP flew humanitarian missions, carrying aid workers and supplies into places standing at the edge of hopelessness. After decades of service, she remains a lasting reminder of aviation’s role in compassion and relief.
